Projects and Programs

Cultivation Station is developing growing sites and practical programs that connect food production, grower education, and community food access in Central Arkansas.

The work described here is at different stages. Each section identifies what is confirmed, what is being developed, and how people can follow or support the work.

Stone Links Harvest Hub

Status: Site development

Location: North Little Rock, Arkansas

Type: Growing, teaching, and demonstration site

Stone Links Park is Cultivation Station’s first planned Harvest Hub. Through a facility agreement with the City of North Little Rock Parks and Recreation Department, Cultivation Station has access to up to 10 acres for agricultural and educational use.

The site is intended to bring food production, practical grower education, and community benefit together in one working space.

What we plan to develop

Stone Links Park is planned to support:

  • Food production suited to Central Arkansas conditions

  • Hands-on grower education and field learning

  • Demonstrations of soil management, irrigation, crop planning, and ecological production practices

  • Volunteer workdays and community learning opportunities

  • Harvest for a combination of direct sales and structured donations

The initial production focus is sweet potatoes and other specialty crops. Additional crops may be introduced as infrastructure and production capacity develop.

Current stage

Stone Links Park is not yet operating as a full production or training site.

Current work is focused on water access, field preparation, irrigation planning, equipment, site infrastructure, and the coordination and approvals needed to move the project forward responsibly.

Public planting dates, volunteer workdays, and educational programming will be announced only after the necessary resources and site conditions are confirmed.

Grower Education

Cultivation Station has developed a broad grower-education framework covering the knowledge and practical skills needed across food production, horticulture, and related agricultural work.

The framework organizes learning into connected subjects and skill pathways, helping identify what a grower should understand, practice, and demonstrate as they progress. It is designed to support workshops, structured courses, individual mentorship, and hands-on learning in working growing spaces.

Current stage

The core curriculum framework is substantially developed. The next stage is reviewing and refining the content, preparing individual lessons and teaching materials, and building the instructional partnerships needed to deliver the program effectively.

Regular classes and apprenticeships are not yet scheduled. Programming will begin as instructors, sites, materials, and operating capacity become ready.

Help develop the program

Cultivation Station welcomes interest from experienced growers, agricultural specialists, educators, and others who may be able to review content, advise on curriculum, help prepare lessons, or support future instruction.

Status: Curriculum refinement and program preparation
Type: Agricultural and food-skills education

Harvest to Donation

Status: Program development
Type: Food-access and community distribution

Cultivation Station plans to dedicate part of its future harvest to improving fresh-food access in Central Arkansas.

The goal is to develop a structured donation program that responds to what food-access organizations and the people they serve can realistically use. This means considering crop selection, harvest timing, food safety, handling, storage, transportation, and distribution capacity before produce leaves the field.

What we are working toward

The program is intended to:

  • Grow nutritious crops suited to local conditions

  • Coordinate with food-access organizations about useful crops and quantities

  • Handle and document donated produce responsibly

  • Develop dependable harvest and delivery practices

  • Reduce the likelihood that donated food goes unused

  • Connect food donations with opportunities to build practical food skills

Current stage

Cultivation Station is still developing its production capacity. Regular harvest donations are not yet available.

As growing sites become productive, we will work with appropriate organizations to develop distribution relationships and determine what donation model is useful, responsible, and sustainable.

Help develop the program

We welcome conversations with food pantries, community food programs, meal providers, food-access organizations, and potential transportation or cold-storage partners.

Working Together

Building durable local food capacity requires cooperation among growers, public agencies, educators, food-access organizations, businesses, volunteers, and community groups.

Stone Links Park is being developed through a facility agreement with the City of North Little Rock Parks and Recreation Department. Additional organizations will be identified publicly as their roles are confirmed and both parties are comfortable sharing the relationship.

Cultivation Station is interested in collaboration around:

  • Site infrastructure and equipment

  • Grower education and technical instruction

  • Food distribution and food-access programming

  • Volunteer and group workdays

  • Research-informed agricultural practices

  • Sponsorships and in-kind support

  • Community outreach and events

We do not describe early conversations as formal partnerships. Public project information will be updated as relationships and responsibilities become more concrete.
