About Us

Cultivation Station Farm Hub is a Central Arkansas 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on food security and practical grower education.

We are developing working growing and teaching spaces where agricultural practices can be demonstrated, people can build practical skills, and food can be grown for community benefit. Cultivation Station is currently in the development stage, with work focused on preparing sites, securing infrastructure and equipment, building partnerships, and developing future programming.

Our Mission

Cultivation Station helps Central Arkansas feed itself well by training growers, providing practical tools, and turning underused spaces into places to grow food and learn. We grow vegetables and fruits to help feed neighbors now and to teach the skills that make food security and sovereignty resilient. We farm with ecologically sound principles, using methods informed by agricultural research and refined by experienced small-farm growers. Through hands-on practice and seasonal harvests, we make fresh food and food skills part of everyday life.

What we plan to grow and demonstrate

As our sites and production capacity develop, we plan to grow vegetables and fruit crops suited to Central Arkansas, along with culinary herbs, plant starts, and other useful horticultural plants.

The crops and growing systems used at each site will reflect the site’s conditions, community purpose, available infrastructure, and educational goals. Our emphasis will be on flavor, nutrition, resilience, ecological management, and practical methods that gardeners and growers can adapt for themselves.

What we’re building next

Cultivation Station is developing the physical and organizational capacity needed to support:

• Working food-production and demonstration spaces

• Hands-on grower education, mentorship, workshops, and field learning

• Propagation and nursery capacity for food crops and community plantings

• Practical demonstrations of soil health, irrigation, season extension, and other regionally appropriate growing methods

• Reliable pathways for selling and donating locally grown food

• Free or low-cost guides, crop plans, recipes, and other useful learning resources

Specific projects will move forward as land access, funding, infrastructure, partnerships, and required approvals are confirmed.

How we teach

Our planned educational programming centers on learning through practice. As sites and programs become ready, we intend to offer hands-on mentorship, workshops, field days, volunteer learning opportunities, and focused courses.

Topics may include gardening, crop production, soil health, composting, seed saving, orchard care, ecological pest management, safe food handling, cooking, and food preservation. Programming will be based on research-informed practices and the working experience of growers familiar with small-scale production.

Why it matters

Food security depends on more than the availability of food. It also depends on land, infrastructure, practical knowledge, and the ability of people and communities to produce and share food over time.

Cultivation Station is building the places, tools, and learning opportunities needed to strengthen that local capacity. Our goal is to help more Arkansans grow, prepare, and share good food with confidence.
